Eurocolumbus

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Eurocolumbus was founded in 1994 for the purpose of managing the development of the Columbus room laboratory with the participation of DASA (51% stake), Alenia (33.4%) and Matra (15.6%).

In order to satisfy the demands of the largest contributors Germany and Italy, the managing director was provided by Germany and the head office was set up in Bremen , with a subsidiary in Turin . France was content with the position of director. Eurocolumbus should be responsible for the management and the upper technical leadership while the parent companies DASA, Alenia and Matra should take care of the actual tasks. After a short time it became clear that the integration of the team and thus the efficient handling of the program had no prospect of success due to the different interests and working styles of the various Eurocolumbus members. That is why the company was dissolved again after a year.
