European professional card
The European Professional Card (EBA; English European Professional Card , in short EPC ) is an electronic certificate and to facilitate the recognition of professional qualifications when moving between EU countries. The relevant directive was passed by the European Parliament in 2013 .
On October 9, 2013, the European Parliament decided to modernize the Professional Qualifications Directive and on December 28, 2013, Directive 2013/55 / EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of November 20, 2013 amending Directive 2005/36 / EC was published the recognition of professional qualifications. The change includes a. an automatic recognition of professional qualifications for a limited number of professions, as well as the introduction of a “European professional card” (European professional card).
It is an electronic process with which professional qualifications are recognized between the member states of the European Union (EU). Doctors, dentists, pharmacists, nurses, midwives, veterinarians and architects are to be recognized directly from almost 800 professions that are regulated in the EU. The member states had until January 18, 2016 to implement the regulation.
In February 2017, recognition via the EBA was possible for the following areas:
- General care nurse
- Pharmacist, pharmacist
- Physiotherapist, physiotherapist
- Mountain guide, mountain guide
- Real estate agent, real estate agent
