European Judicial Atlas
The European Judicial Atlas (currently) consists of two completely separate information focuses. The European Judicial Atlas in Civil Matters and the European Judicial Atlas in Criminal Matters . Both information focuses are part of e-justice .
European Judicial Atlas for Civil Matters
The European Judicial Atlas in civil matters facilitates and simplifies access to certain information relevant to judicial cooperation in civil matters and enables documents to be downloaded directly in the various official languages of the European Union .
Through the European Judicial Atlas in civil matters, Union citizens can easily find the court or other authority in a Union member state that is responsible for them . No special search skills are required.
The European Judicial Atlas in Civil Matters currently has the following structure on important topics of civil procedure law (as of spring 2015):
- Courts of the Member States
- Legal aid
- Mediation
- Service of documents
- European procedures
- Evidence
- Recognition and enforcement of decisions
- Family law
- Compensation for crime victims
There are also other links. The link to What's New (queries from 2004) is only accessible in English .
The European Judicial Atlas in Civil Matters is operated by the European Commission .
European Judicial Atlas for Criminal Matters
The European Judicial Atlas for Criminal Matters is still under construction and can only be used to a limited extent by Union citizens. The website is sometimes only offered in English .
The website is operated by the European Judicial Network in cooperation with the European Commission, mainly to facilitate judicial cooperation in criminal matters.
