European consumer center Austria

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The European Consumer Center Austria (ECC, Engl .: European Consumer Center Austria , French .: Center européen des consommateurs Autriche ) is part of the network European Consumer Center . It is operated by the Austrian Association for Consumer Information (VKI) within the network of European consumer centers and funded by the European Commission , General Directorate for Justice and Consumers (DG JUST).

tasks

The European Consumer Center Austria supports consumers in the use of the European internal market in the context of consumer transactions, i.e. in transactions between consumers and entrepreneurs , e.g. B. by:

  • Publications on rights and obligations when purchasing goods and services across borders;
  • Answering direct questions from consumers and providers;
  • Support and care for consumers in the event of complaints;
  • If necessary, free consumer support in out-of-court dispute resolution (ODR) in the internal market of the European Union .

Telephone advice is also offered via the so-called European hotline 01/588 77 81. Support with out-of-court dispute resolution (ODR) in the internal market is only possible in writing using an online form (cross-border complaint form).

Involvement

The EVZ can be found at the same address as the VKI and is managed by Georg Mentschl.

Demarcation

Like all other consumer centers and the ECC network , the European Consumer Center Austria is not a non-governmental organization like many other private consumer organizations .

In contrast to the consumer centers , European consumer centers are not themselves independent, but were set up by the European Commission and are jointly financed by this and the EU member states (plus Norway and Iceland).

Since 2006 there has been at least one national contact point of the ECC network in every EU member state. Depending on the member state of the Union, these are located in different institutions, e.g. B. at ministries , other government agencies or, as in Austria, at an independent association, etc.

Online Dispute Resolution (ODR)

European Consumer Center Austria is also the national ODR contact point.
