Europ Assistance was founded in 1963 by Pierre Desnos as a subsidiary of Assicurazioni Generali. As an assistance company, Europ Assistance initially focused on the field of medical assistance and later specialized in other areas such as travel assistance, travel insurance, vehicle assistance (technical assistance), customer management and service, insurance services, home assistance, claims management, health services and vehicle warranty.
The group employs around 7,500 people worldwide and has a network of medical professionals and 750,000 certified partners. According to the company, around 34 million telephone calls were processed in the 37 operations centers of Europ Assistance in 2017 and around 10 million operations were carried out in 200 countries.
