Europe wheel

The Europa Wheel from the show company Kipp & Sohn from Bonn is the tallest transportable Ferris wheel in the world with open and rotating gondolas.

The Ferris wheel was built by the Dutch company Nauta Bussink based on the ideas of the Bonn showman Willi Kipp. In contrast to other Ferris wheels of this type, it has a significantly higher number of spokes, which makes the Ferris wheel appear “fuller”. The premiere took place in Aachen on spring evening in 1992 .

The space required for the Ferris wheel is 25 meters wide and 20 meters deep; the operator specifies the total height as 55 meters. The total of 42 gondolas can accommodate up to 252 people. 20 special vehicles and a mobile 120-ton crane are required to transport the Europa Rad .

On September 13, 2017, a fatal accident occurred in Bonn when a worker fell from a height of 27 m while dismantling the Ferris wheel.
