Europe what's up! is a viral from 2009 with the German TV presenter Oliver Pocher .

The video was commissioned by the Bavarian State Ministry for Federal and European Affairs . Before the European elections on June 7, 2009, it was intended to mobilize younger voters in particular and to open up new channels of communication for politics. For the film, Pocher slipped into the fictional role of the rapper Straßen Cobra and asked young people about Europe-specific issues in street interviews in Munich. The video was produced by the Munich advertising agency It's live! Advertising .

The project achieved a large reach. On the video platform YouTube , the video was viewed around 150,000 times before the European elections, and over 577,000 times to date (as of April 2010). On television, coverage in several channels reached over nine million viewers. More than 300 online portals with a reach of over 25 million visits per day have taken up the topic.

In the European elections in 2009, voter turnout in Bavaria was 2.7% higher than five years earlier. In 14 other federal states, however, voter turnout fell or rose less sharply.

In spring 2010, the Viral was nominated for the New Media Award in the Efficiency category from among 170 submitted suggestions .
