European Folk Culture Organization

The European Folk Culture Organization (EFCO) was founded in 1996 as a European association of folklore and traditional people in Europe . The foundation took place at the Hambacher Schloss near Neustadt an der Weinstrasse .

The aim of the organization is to make a contribution to international understanding in a peaceful and tolerant Europe through intercultural encounters . EFCO attaches great importance to the equal exchange between the different cultures, i. H. only those who know their culture can exchange ideas with people from other cultures on an equal footing. EFCO is now represented in most European countries. The chairman of EFCO since it was founded in 1996 is the Irishman Frank Whelan , who u. a. also founded the Irish National Folk Company .
