European Forum on Antisemitism

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The European Forum on Antisemitism (EFA) is an institution of the American Jewish Committee (AJC) founded in 2008 at an international conference at Leipziger Platz in Berlin . It educates the public about anti-Semitism and supports political actors. In particular, EFA wants to network decision-makers, NGOs and Jewish communities and is guided by the NGO Forum Berlin , which was founded in 2007 . There is cooperation with the Amadeu Antonio Foundation , the Anne Frank Center , the House of the Wannsee Conference , the Fritz Bauer Institute , the haGalil website and the Jewish Museum Berlin . EFA's working definition of “anti-Semitism” is based on the 2005 definition of today's European Monitoring Center on Racism and Xenophobia (EUMC) and provides translations into dozens of languages.

“Anti-Semitism is a certain perception of Jews that can be expressed as hatred of Jews. Anti-Semitism, in word or deed, is directed against Jewish or non-Jewish individuals and / or their property, as well as against Jewish community or religious institutions. In addition, the State of Israel, which is understood as a Jewish collective, can also be the target of such attacks. [...] Anti-Semitism manifests itself in words, writing and images as well as in other forms of action, it uses negative stereotypes and assumes negative character traits. "

EFA systematically documents anti-Semitic incidents in Europe, in doing so it can fall back on the experience of the AJC.
