European Meteorological Society

The European Meteorological Society (EMS; German  European Meteorological Society ) is a meteorological society and was founded in September 1999 after five years of preparation.

Founding members were 21 national meteorological societies from 20 European countries. The EMS is based at the Free University of Berlin .

Tasks:

  • Develop applications of meteorology (and related sciences) for the public good
  • Communication of meteorological knowledge to the public
  • Development of proposals for imparting meteorological knowledge in school lessons
  • Development of quality and recognition criteria for work results in meteorology that can be used throughout Europe

The company also organizes the international European conference on applications of meteorology (ECAM) as part of its own meetings .
