European Network of Forensic Science Institutes

European Network of Forensic Science Institutes (ENFSI) is the European network of forensic institutes founded on October 20, 1995, initially based in The Hague . Since October 2015 ENFSI is a German registered association based in Wiesbaden . The secretariat set up in 2002 at the Nederlands Forensisch Instituut (NFI) has been based in Wiesbaden since January 2016 with two full-time employees at the German Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA).

Goal setting

The ENFSI was founded with the aim of promoting the exchange and transfer of knowledge in the field of forensic science. At the same time, it is intended to advance common standards in order to make forensic research and examination results more comparable internationally and to improve recognition across national borders. In the meantime, ENFSI is internationally recognized as an expert group for forensic criminal sciences.

ENFSI ensures that the quality of research and development at member institutes worldwide meets the highest requirements and is continuously improved. This is to be achieved through constant quality assurance of the results combined with the continuous expansion of the ENFSI membership base. Contacts to organizations and institutions with the same or a similar goal are maintained or established.

The chairperson is the Finn Erkki Sippola.
