European Renewable Energy Council
The European Renewable Energy Council (EREC) is the European industry association of manufacturers, dealers and researchers active in the field of renewable energies .
Members are eight European associations in the fields of photovoltaics , solar thermal energy , wind energy , small hydropower , bioenergy and geothermal energy . EREC is based in Brussels .
The association became known to the wider public in January 2007 with the publication of the Energy [R] evolution study (in cooperation with Greenpeace ), which shows how renewable energies can reduce global emissions of the greenhouse gas CO₂ by 50 percent by the middle of the 21st century can be reduced.
