European Voice was an English-language weekly newspaper that appeared initially on Wednesdays and later on Thursdays. It belonged to the publishing house The Economist Group . The edition was 20,000 copies. The target group were decision-makers from politics, business and society who follow and influence European politics.

In 2013, European Voice was taken over by the French holding company Selectcom Finance and in December 2014 it went to a joint venture between the US political magazine Politico and the German Axel Springer SE . It was discontinued with the 901st edition on April 9, 2015. The new weekly Politico started on April 23, 2015 .

European Voice focused on European politics. Each issue included an editorial, news, commentary, analysis and a portrait of a politician or other figure who was important to EU politics. In addition, European Voice provided space for comments and letters to the editor. The “Careers” department was devoted to training and work. A job market followed the editorial pages. Finally, the newspaper also contained the column “Entre nous” with a humorous inside look at the events of the week in the EU institutions. The weekly editions were supplemented at regular intervals by special pages devoted to a current EU-relevant topic.

Events

European Voice hosted conferences, seminars and debates for EU policy makers. One of the best-known events was EVawards , at which personalities were honored who had a decisive influence on European politics in the respective year. Since 2005 there has been a cooperation with the news channel Euronews .
