Evamaria Schaller (* 1980 in Graz ) is an Austrian performance and video artist.

education

Schaller studied MultiMediaArts in Salzburg and film at FAMU Prague. In 2011 she completed her postgraduate studies at the Art Academy for Media in Cologne , where she studied performance and film art with Julia Scher , Matthias Müller and Thomas Schmitt.

Evamaria Schaller's work moves between performance art and video art ; she uses both media as installations. Her films question traditional gender concepts. She is looking for extraordinary female characters. Her cinematic gaze often tilts into the surreal and makes borderline experiences visible.

Schaller is a co-founder and active member of the PAErsche performance action laboratory.

Scholarships

Schaller has already received three scholarships from the city of Cologne, in 2016 the "Atelier Galata" scholarship in Istanbul and the scholarship from the Dr. Dormagen Guffanti Foundation, 2011 the Chargesheimer scholarship for media art . In 2012 she received the Peter Mertes grant from the Bonner Kunstverein and the START grant from the Federal Chancellery of Austria , Art and Culture.
