Evangelical Lutheran Confessional Church in the Diaspora

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Evangelical Lutheran Confessional Church in the Diaspora (not to be confused with the Confessing Church ) was a Lutheran church of old denomination. It was founded in 1924 as the "Evangelical Lutheran Free Church in Poland" and was called from 1939 to 1941 "Evangelical Lutheran Free Church in the Warthegau". The church initially had its members in the Łódź area in Poland.

After the Second World War , the members of the Free Church were largely expelled . Therefore, from 1946 it was continued as the "Evangelical Lutheran Refugee Mission Church". In 1951 it received its last known name "Evangelical Lutheran Confessional Church in the Diaspora".

The church leadership was headed by a praeses. Pastor Armin Schlender from Wiesbaden held this office.

On January 1, 1976, the Evangelical Lutheran Confessional Church in the diaspora joined the Independent Evangelical Lutheran Church (SELK) based in Hanover.
