Evangelical Lutheran Church in Southern Africa (Natal-Transvaal)

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Southern Africa (Natal-Transvaal) (ELKSA (NT)) is an originally German-speaking Evangelical Church in South Africa . It was formed in 1981 through the merger of the Transvaal Church, which emerged from the Berlin Synod, with the Hermannsburg Church (formerly the Hermannsburg Synod) and is now divided into four deaneries .

The congregations that also hold their services in English and Afrikaans are located in the former South African provinces of Natal and Transvaal . Today, the ELKSA (NT) also includes the St. Johannes congregation in the Kelvin district of Johannesburg , a congregation of Scandinavian origin.

ELKSA (NT) is a member of the Lutheran Community in Southern Africa (LUCSA), the Lutheran World Federation (LWF) and the South African Council of Churches (SACC).
