Everlasting was a funeral doom band formed in 2007 .

history

Everlasting was founded in 2007 in Rostov-on-Don . Despite a long period of activity, the band only released one album until the end of their activities in 2013. The album March of Time was released that year through Solitude Productions .

The reception at March of Time was divided. From scathing reviews to average ratings and clear praise, the album received a wide range of heterogeneous reviews. Chai, Drishner awarded one of ten possible points and wrote for Chronicles of Chaos that he "could not imagine anyone who, in their right mind, would enjoy this recording". Other reviewers were less harsh with the album and admitted that on the album "not every idea [...] was implemented perfectly" and March of Time "does not even come close to the class of genre classics". Nevertheless, "some good beginnings in the songs" could be found. The album was also described as an interplay between “light and shadow”. On the one hand, the album embodies an authentic work, on the other hand, missed opportunities and a lack of creativity and originality can be seen as shadows. The reviewer BitterCold for the webzine Metalstorm counters the lack of originality by stating that "less originality and more the ability to convey emotions counts" and that Everlasting succeeds in conveying a dense atmosphere. Again other reviewers such as Eckart Maronde for Metal.de praised March of Time , saying that it was "an atmospheric Funeral Doom album". With the album, Everlasting continues "in an unsurpassed way the youngest, but consolidated tradition of the Russian melodic funeral", praised Stefano Cavanna for the Italian webzine iye.

style

The music played by Everlasting is attributed to Funeral Doom . For the webzine Doom-Metal.com the music is described as "long, very slowly evolving compositions". Stylistic set pieces from the ambient as well as black metal expand the overall sound, while the keyboard takes on a dominant role and contributes to a "melodic and comparatively 'light' feeling". Most of the singing is presented clearly. The music presents itself as typically Funeral Doom. Eckart Maronde described the music for Metal.de: "Mostly slow tempo (but there is also a lot of blown music from time to time ), whispering grave singing, creeping riffs , guitar leads that have faded away and flat keyboard carpets ."
