Ewald Kropfitsch

Ewald Kropfitsch (born September 16, 1934 in Ferlach ) is an Austrian lawyer.

Life

Kropfitsch studied in Vienna and Graz Jus . In 1959 he received his doctorate in law from the Karl-Franzens-University in Graz. He opened his career as a judge in the Austrian Justice and became in 1962 the parish judge of the Court of Appeal Graz and 1965 district judge in Völkermarkt, Carinthia. In 1968 he was appointed regional judge there. In 1969 he was in the Registry Office of the Supreme Court appointed to Vienna. In 1972 he was appointed higher regional judge in the records office of the Supreme Court. Kropfitsch applied to the Vienna Higher Regional Court in 1977 and was appointed to the Senate Council at this court on January 1, 1978. On January 1st, 1980 he was appointed Hofrat of the Supreme Court and on January 1st, 1994 as Senate President of the Supreme Court in Vienna, at which court he was presented with the medal of honor of this court on his retirement.

During his active time as Senate President of the Supreme Court, he worked on the commentary on the Financial Criminal Law of Manz Verlag Vienna and wrote the book Jess zur Musik for the publishing house of the Lower Austrian Press House in Vienna . As a pensioner, he set up a workshop for cutting gemstones and devoted himself to the construction of violins. Ewald Kropfitsch lives with his wife Karin and daughter Elisabeth Kropfitsch both in Vienna and in his Villa Kaiserstein in Mürzzuschlag , where he also organizes summer concerts. He is a member of the Rotary Club Mürzzuschlag-Semmering, as its president he was awarded the Paul Harris Fellow Medal in 2012.
