Ewald Roth

Ewald Roth (born February 5, 1960 in Schwanenstadt ) was an Austrian national karate trainer as well as an Upper Austrian national karate trainer.

biography

Ewald Roth started karate training in Schwanenstadt in 1971. At the age of 18 he won the silver medal at the Austrian Junior Championships in Vorarlberg in 1978. Later he was Austrian national champion a total of 12 times. After building up numerous clubs in Upper Austria, he also took on a managerial role at the Schwanenstadt club in 1984 and, thanks to his international contacts, brought renowned coaches to Schwanenstadt. He retired from active competition at the end of 2000. Before that, he and his teammates Stefan Mayr and Konstantin Jordanidis had won the world championship title in Moscow in 1999 and the European championship title in Cadiz that same year, which he successfully defended in 2000 in Lucerne. During his career as a competitor, and especially after his retirement, he led numerous Austrian athletes to great international successes as a club, regional and national coach. In addition, as a trainer at the BORG Linz, he ensured highly qualified young talent in the Austrian karate sport. The athletes he supervises include Simon Klausberger, Roland Breiteneder, Ursula Inzinger, Yasemin Güngör, Doris Gwinner, Georg Wegscheider, Stefan Mayr and Thomas Kaserer. With the opening of the Budokan Wels, a center for Far Eastern martial arts unique in Austria, he succeeded in setting another milestone in the history of Austrian karate in May 2006. As the initiator of the Welser Budokan, he trains promising young talents in his home town, such as B. Thomas Kaserer.

  • 1st place and thus gold medal in the Kata team competition at the Shotokan World Championship ( WSKA ) 1999 in Moscow
