The Ex mattatoio di Roma , also Mattatoio Testaccio or Campo Boario, is a former slaughterhouse in the Rione Testaccio (Rione) in the Italian capital Rome .

It was created in 1888 and designed by the Italian architect Gioacchino Ersoch. In 1975 the slaughterhouse was closed. From 1976 to 2002 the spacious rear square with an area of 105,000 square meters was used as an event space for many concerts.

For example, internationally known musicians such as Zucchero and Eric Clapton performed on the premises in 1989 . Today the building is used for exhibitions as a branch of the Museo d'Arte Contemporanea di Roma MACRO . The backyard, which is dammed up to 3,500 square meters, is used for smaller cultural events.
