Excelsior (diamond)

At 995.20 carats , the Excelsior diamond is the fourth largest natural diamond to date . It was ousted from its place as the second largest rough diamond by the Lucara diamond , which was found in Botswana in 2015.

It was found on June 30, 1893 in the Jagersfontein mine in South Africa . It was divided into 22 stones by the Amsterdam grinder J. Asscher, the largest weighs 373.75 carats and is now owned by Robert Mouawad ( Paris ). The other stones are between 69.68 and almost 1 carat in size.
