External machine interface

The External Machine Interface is used in the field of cellular communications or when connecting SMS services to personal computers . Here it connects, as an external interface of the GSM - paging system , a PC with the Short Message Handler (SMH) of a provider . The interface can be implemented via X.25 connections (permanent connection) or via modem or ISDN connections and is based on an extended command set of the UCP protocol .
