The term extrafetal tissue or extraembryonic tissue is an expression from prenatal medicine and prenatal diagnostics during pregnancy and refers to cells that have the same origin as the fetus .

Extra-fetal tissue develops into placenta , chorion, or amnion . Extrafetales tissue is in most cases genetically identical to the growing child and can be used for diagnosis of chromosome specific features are used.
