Extraluminal valvuloplasty

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

With the surgical procedure (OP) extraluminal valvuloplasty (EXVP) defective venous valves can be repaired without having to remove the vein . In vein-preserving therapy, a 3 cm long incision is made in the groin, the damaged vein is exposed and covered with a 0.2 mm thin plastic skin, the VenoPatch. The VenoPatch is fixed with single button seams and thus acts like an internal compression stocking. In this way, the vein can be reconstructed and the blood backflow prevented in just half an hour of surgery. The vein can recover. The procedure, which is usually carried out on an outpatient basis, is performed under local anesthesia or, alternatively, under general anesthesia .
