Extrapyramidal hyperkinesia
Extrapyramidal hyperkinesias are movement disorders that are based on a malfunction of certain parts of the basal ganglia , more precisely of the extrapyramidal motor system . The word extrapyramidal comes from the fact that the system lies outside the motor pyramidal trajectory. The extrapyramidal hyperkinesias are often contrasted with the (also extrapyramidal) hypokinesias .
