The Arneburg ferry is a yaw cable ferry across the Elbe in Saxony-Anhalt . It connects the west Elbe city ​​of Arneburg with the opposite bank of the Elbe near Neuermark-Lübars .

Equipment and functionality

The Arneburg ferry station is about one kilometer south of the center of Arneburg. On the east side there are still about two kilometers to reach Neuermark-Lübars.

The Arneburg ferry is a longitudinal rope yaw ferry with a maximum individual load of 15 tons. In the winter months and during floods, operations are suspended.

An Arneburg ferry was first mentioned in documents around 1420. It ran from the Rosspforte to the right bank of the Elbe. In 1932 a newly built ferry was put into service. She was 19.18 m long, 4.40 m wide and had a draft of 0.46 m. It was replaced in 1975 by the Arneburg ferry, which still operates today .
