Fédération Canadienne d'Escrime

The Fédération Canadienne d'Escrime (English name Canadian Fencing Organization ) is the national umbrella organization for the sport of fencing in Canada . She is a member of the Federation Internationale d'Escrime and the American Regional Association Confederación Panamericana de Esgrima . The headquarters of the organization is in St. Catharines , the current president (as of 2014) is Brad Goldie .

history

The first fencing school in Canada was founded in Montréal in 1816 . In 1902 the first national championships were held. Finally, in 1971, the Fédération Canadienne d'Escrime was founded, which joined the Fédération Internationale d'Escrime in the same year.

organization

The Fédération Canadienne d'Escrime is headed by a board of directors ( Conseil d'administration or Board of Directors ) with seven members. The Canadian fencing coaches are organized in the sub-organization Fencing Coaches of Canada . The organization is divided into ten regional associations (for British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island as well as Newfoundland and Labrador).
