Contact advantage is a term from economic geography and regional economics that describes a so-called “soft” location factor . In this context, terms such as “ innovative milieu ” are also used.

Touch advantage describes the advantage of close spatial contact (touch) between those involved. This enables a spontaneous exchange of knowledge, for example through personal encounters.

Institutions like to settle in areas where a certain structure already exists. Research companies like to settle near universities. Contact advantages lead to quick contacts with authorities, consultants, universities and companies in the same branch.

For example, advantages can arise from the proximity of suppliers and processing companies or from the joint expansion of warehouse and logistics infrastructure as well as cooperation in sales.
