The scarlet wheatear wheatear ( Epthianura tricolor ) is an Australian songbird from the honeyeater family.
features
The male is red on the vertex, chest and flanks, white on the throat, lower abdomen and rump, dark brown on the back and black on the neck, tail and eye stripe. The female is light brown on the top and white on our side and has yellow-brown spots on the breast and flanks.
Occurrence
The bird inhabits arid areas of Australia with little or no vegetation.

The scarcity of its habitat forces the scarlet wheatear to frequently change its location and move over long distances to where fresh vegetation sprouts after rainfall. In addition to insects , which are the main food, it also feeds on the nectar of desert flowers. When looking for food, he constantly moves on the ground.
Reproduction
In the breeding season from July to December, the bird builds a deep shell nest made of grass and twigs that is lined with hair and roots under the protection of the vegetation. The clutch of two to three eggs is incubated for 14 days, the nestling period lasts another 14 days.
