Mission and history

The regiment was set up on October 1, 1944, its permanent staff was removed from the IV. Department of the parachute flak regiment "Hermann Göring" . The regiment originally had the task of protecting the special trains of Hitler , the Reich Foreign Minister , the Wehrmacht Command Staff and the Reichsführer SS . The use and subordination of the regiment are not known for the first few weeks of its existence. Either these documents are lost or they were confidential at the time. The first record of the use of the Führer Flak Regiment can only be found from January 1945. It is noted, among other things, that the II. The remnants of this regiment, including the 1st Division, were then ordered to the Eastern Front in order to stop the Red Army's winter offensive in southeast Prussia. Parts of the regiment also fought alongside the 24th Panzer Division . According to a final certificate from April 30, 1945, remnants of the regiment are said to have been in the as yet unoccupied parts of Bavaria and Tyrol . Major Karl-Gerd Roth was in command until the end of the war .
