Under Fürspann (also Fürspan ), also called Fürspange called, is a brooch from the middle ages , especially to understand the 12th and 13th centuries. It closed the wedge-shaped neckline of the slip dress, the cotte , at the neck, and is thus a special form or a successor to the fibula .

As a clasp or chest needle with chain, they served to the jacket front hold together on the chest, and thus they had a form of a closure.

Due to the type of attachment, the term has been transferred to an order decoration . The order had the title of the order of the intercessors . The medal is a ring made of five short knotted leather strips with buckles. The free ends of the strap are placed outwards in a star shape and a small gold chain was used to fasten it. Golden buckles were reserved for the noblemen, others had to use silver ones.

It is considered one of the oldest German orders and was founded by Charles IV in Nuremberg in 1355.
