Princely Leiningen library in Amorbach
The Fürstlich Leiningen library in Amorbach is an important aristocratic library owned by the von Leiningen family .
It keeps the remains of the library of the Amorbach monastery and is also housed in the splendid library room of the former monastery, which was classically furnished between 1782 and 1800. With its ceiling fresco by Konrad Huber, it is counted among the most beautiful library rooms of the 18th century.
According to the handbook of historical book holdings, the holdings in 1949 comprised 28,850 volumes. Current information amounts to approx. 35,000 volumes.
The library is managed by the Fürstlich Leiningen Archive, which was closed in 2003 .
