F. Thomas Thompson

F. Thomas Thompson (* before 1920) was an American film architect at RKO Pictures and filmmaker who, together with Carroll Clark, was awarded an Oscar in the science and development category ("Scientific and Engineering Award") at the 1943 Academy Awards .

Act

Thompson was part of the Studio Art and Miniature Department at RKO Pictures. Together with the film architect Carroll Clark, he developed and constructed a machine for the production of moving clouds and horizons ("For the design and construction of a moving cloud and horizon machine"). For this work, both were awarded the Oscar for Science and Development ("Scientific and Engineering Award") in 1943. The award, which is given for outstanding achievements in the field of the further development of the film industry, consists of a plaque with the name of the recipient.
