F41 (Paralympics)
F41 is a starting class of Paralympic sports for athletes in athletics . Affiliations of athletes are outlined as follows:
- "Small athletes."
The division into classes indicates the degree of functional disability of an athlete that is relevant to competition . Athletes in class F41 must meet the following conditions in order to be allowed to start in the technical disciplines of Paralympic athletics:
- Minimum age 18 years (adults with a stable body size)
- Height men: 130–145 cm
- Height women: 125-137 cm
- Consideration of arm length as an additional criterion in individual cases
The letter "T" (track) stands in athletics ("track and field athletics") for track and jumping disciplines, the letter "F" (field) for technical disciplines. For short athletes, although theoretically intended, there are no Paralympic competitions in track and jumping disciplines. Therefore there is only class F41, not a class T41. The technical disciplines in class F41 are almost exclusively throwing disciplines. Therefore, the arm length is considered as a further selection criterion in individual cases.
