T44 (Paralympics)
T44 and F44 are starting classes of Paralympic sports for athletes in athletics . Affiliations of athletes to the two starting classes are outlined as follows:
- "Unilateral lower leg amputee, loss of forefoot and equals to these restrictions (e.g. moderate functional impairment that enables walking with one or both legs)."
The division into classes indicates the degree of functional disability of an athlete that is relevant to competition . Track and field athletes in classes T42 - T47 and F42 - F46 belong to the “amputees and equals” . Low class numbers indicate a higher level of impairment than high class numbers.
- T44: Starting class for running and jumping disciplines in athletics, in which leg functions are particularly important,
- F44: Starting class for technical disciplines in athletics, in which the arm functions are particularly important (except for high jump),
- it is started upright.
