T46 (Paralympics)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

T46 and F46 are starting classes of Paralympic sports for athletes in athletics . Affiliations of athletes to the two starting classes are outlined as follows:

"Upper arm amputees, forearm loss and those equivalent to these restrictions (e.g. normal leg functions with physical damage to the trunk and / or arms)."

The division into classes indicates the degree of functional disability of an athlete that is relevant to competition . Track and field athletes in classes T42 – T47 and F42 – F46 belong to the “amputees and equals” . Low class numbers indicate a higher level of impairment than high class numbers.

  • T46: Starting class for running and jumping disciplines in athletics, in which leg functions are particularly important,
  • F46: Starting class for technical disciplines in athletics, in which the arm functions are particularly important (except for high jump),
  • it is started upright.
