The ST series are three-part narrow - gauge diesel multiple units with a gauge of 950 mm from Ferrovie Appulo Lucane (FAL) in southern Italy .

history

In 2011 the FAL ordered six three-part and five two-part diesel-electric multiple units with the designations ST and SB from Stadler Rail for use on the Bari - Altamura - Matera / Gravina route . The order, including spare parts, was worth 45 million euros. The multiple units were put into operation from 2012 to 2014 and assigned to the Bari Scalo depot . After commissioning, the FAL were able to retire some M4 .

In January 2019, another four three-part multiple units were added, with an option to call up four more units. The trains are scheduled to go into operation within 24 months.

description

The multiple units of the ST series consist of two end cars and an intermediate car with a total of 155 seats. They correspond to the two-part multiple units of the SB series, but have an additional intermediate car. Half of the passenger compartment is low-floor , and air-sprung bogies ensure pleasant travel comfort. There is a handicapped accessible toilet in the middle car. The drive equipment, which consists of a six-cylinder Cummins diesel engine with an output of 395 kW and complies with Euro IIIA emissions standards, is arranged above the two engine bogies . The multiple units can run in two or three units, controlled in multiple ways.
