The FASA-Alpine is a sports car from the Spanish car manufacturer Fabricacion de Automoviles SA (FASA) . It is a license build of the Alpine models A110 and A108 . FASA-Alpine vehicles are the most common variant in Europe alongside the original Alpine vehicles from France.

history

The Fabricacion de Automoviles SA (FASA) was founded in 1950 by Manuel Jimenez Alfaro (1898-1992) in Valladolid. He mainly manufactured Renault models under license. The models were adapted to the Spanish market and therefore modified. They have features that French Renault models do not have. Sometimes the naming also differs.

In 1963, Jean Rédélé granted Manuel Jiménez Alfaro a license to build Alpine vehicles. FASA starts manufacturing the Alpine A108 Berlinette and A108 Cabrio Sport under license in Spain. The A110 Berlinette (1100, 1300, 1400) was produced in Spain from 1966. Many Spanish Alpine A110 Berlinettes correspond to the French Alpine model from 1968 with their smaller headlights, door handles, indicators in the bumper, etc. But there are also FASA vehicles that correspond to other model years. FASA used its own rims for the vehicles. The Alpine logo (the Alpine A) is rounded on FASA-Alpine vehicles. "FASA España" was placed on the right at the rear. The exact assignment of a vehicle can, however, be made more difficult because vehicles are custom-made according to customer requirements. Often the exterior license plates have been changed by the owners afterwards.

In 1965 FASA became a subsidiary of the Renault Group and is therefore also known as FASA-Renault. The license was still used after the automobile manufacturer was sold. Production in Spain was not stopped until 1978.

Racing

The Alpine is also used in racing in Spain.

In 1968 an Alpine A110 Berlinette became Spanish rally champion (driver Bernard Tramont ). Bernard Tramont also wins the first Rallye de Orense in 1967 with the Alpine A110 Berlinette 1300.

In 2006, Ramón Conde cast an Alpine A110 Berlinette in bronze and set it up as a tribute to the Spanish Rallye de Ourense in Ourense (Parque de San Lázaro). Pictured are driver Estanislao Reverter Sequeiros (1929–1991) and co-driver Antonio Pérez-Hugalde Colemán . Reverter bought an Alpine A110 Berlinette in 1971 and put a Porsche engine in the rear. The vehicle used in racing from 1971 to 1974 was therefore called "Alpinche".
