The FC Turgi is a Swiss football club was established in 1919 from the Canton of Aargau .
history
The founding members include the then President Paul Lehmann, Ernst Vogelsang-Stamm, Adolf Rehmann, Anton Binkert, Karl Wiedemeier and Josef Weber. The association was founded in the Fankhauser restaurant, which was later run under the name Traube . Only a few years after it was founded, with the help of the entrepreneur Dominik Umbricht, the Steig sports field in Ennetturgi ( Untersiggenthal municipality ) could be leased. The association founded a youth department in 1941. In the meantime, FC Turgi has been promoted to the 1st league several times and achieved good placements in the all-time best list of the 2nd league of the Aargau Football Association.
successes
In 1931, FC Turgi won the Aargauer Cup as a fourth division against the then third division FC Buchs. In 1947, the team rose to the second division under coach Renato Casali, to which they belonged until 1980.
In 1953, FC Turgi was the last remaining Aargau club to lose after victories against the first division clubs FC Derendingen and FC Old Boys against the then National League A club FC Grenchen. In Switzerland, the football club had caused a stir as the last remaining second division team in the main round of the Cup.
In the 1966 Cup, the club defeated SC Zurzach, FC Fislisbach, FC Turicum, SC Zofingen, FC Buchs and FC Baden from the National League B in the preliminary rounds . FC Turgi then lost 4-0 against the higher-ranking FC Lugano .
Venues
The Steig sports field is the home ground of the active teams. The Unterau sports field is mainly a training ground and alternative terrain and is used by the club's various youth teams. For the anniversary season 2019/2020, the Oberau sports field in Untersiggenthal is to be built after a long time.
