FCSR Haguenau ( Football Club Sports Réunis Haguenau ), sometimes also FR Haguenau , is a French football club from Haguenau (Ger. Hagenau ), a city in Alsace . The club currently plays (2013/14 season) in the sixth class Division d´Honneur .

History of the SR Haguenau

The club was founded in Hagenau in 1920. He celebrated the greatest success in the club's history to date in 1977 with promotion to Division 2 (now Ligue 2 ). At the end of the 1977/78 season, however, they rose again from Division 2. 1975, 1976 and 1979 succeeded in winning the Coupe d'Alsace , the regional cup competition. In the national cup , SR 1975/76 and 1976/77 even reached the sixteenth finals. In 1987 SR Haguenau merged with FC Haguenau to form FCSR Haguenau, with which SR Haguenau ceased to exist.

FC Haguenau was founded in 1900. During the German occupation, FC Hagenau played in the Gauliga Alsace from 1940 to 1944 .

History as FCSR

In the 1987/88 season they started in what was then the sixth class Promotion d'excellence . In 1989, the Alsatians rose as leaders in the Division d´Honneur, which was the fifth highest division at the time.

In the following season, the team managed to march through when they were promoted to Division 4 . And the march continued when the Hagenau team rose to Division 3 as the leader of the table in 1994 . The 1992/93 season ended as ninth in the table. When the French league system was reformed, the club from the small Alsatian town played in the now fourth-rate National 2 . As a league leader, the club was able to end the 1993/94 season. That was synonymous with promotion to third class. In the 1994/95 season, FCSR Haguenau was only able to occupy 14th place in the table. In the following season, the club finished 17th, which was synonymous with relegation to the new CFA 2 (replaced the National 2).

The Alsatians played there until 2000, when they were promoted to the new CFA . The 2000/01 season, on the other hand, was a disaster. In the end there was a direct relegation. In the CFA 2, the FCSR played until 2004, and then relegated to the Division d´Honneur (now the sixth highest division). As the leader of the table, you mastered the 2004/05 season to get promoted again. They played again in CFA 2 until 2009, when they went back to the sixth class. They still play there today.
