Specialist warehouse clerk

Specialist warehouse clerk is a commercial apprenticeship that has replaced the commercial packer apprenticeship. Training with an IHK degree takes 2 years.

The main tasks include incoming and outgoing goods as well as stock control. The incoming goods activities include receiving goods, checking the integrity and completeness of the delivery, and storing the goods. When the goods are shipped, the tasks are usually picking , assembling and packing of the goods and, if necessary, loading .

Driving industrial trucks (e.g. forklifts ) is part of their daily work. Depending on the type of goods and industry, specialist warehouse clerks also operate conveyor belts, picking robots or indoor cranes.

The earnings of specialist warehouse clerks are mostly in the lower to middle income range. A gross basic remuneration according to the collective agreement is € 2,300. However, this earnings can vary significantly when working in different industries, for example in the case of a tariff classification according to chemical tariff E4, € 2,975 (as of 2019).

The training as a warehouse clerk can be supplemented by the one-year training as a warehouse logistics specialist . The training as a specialist for warehouse logistics is part of the commercial professions and supplements the training as a warehouse clerk with planning, controlling and business components for the logistics area as well as route planning for truck dispatching.
