Awarded the "Bicycle-friendly employer" certificate

Bicycle-friendly employer is an initiative of the ADFC to promote bicycle traffic in companies in Germany. Under the Cycle-friendly employer (CFE) certification scheme of the European umbrella organization ECF , which has existed since 2017, there are comparable initiatives in 13 other EU countries (as of July 2019).

The campaign is funded by the European Commission as part of the Intelligent Energy Europe (IEE) program.

In addition to a free manual that shows measures in various fields of action to improve bike-friendliness in companies, the initiative also offers individual advisory services and workshops. These measures include: B ::

  • Changing, washing and showering facilities for employees
  • Covered, secure bicycle parking facilities
  • Bicycle repair facilities

The certification itself can take place in three different stages (gold, silver, bronze) depending on the scope of the measures implemented and can be renewed online after three years. Recertification through an on-site audit is necessary after six years at the latest. With the certification, employers can demonstrate to the outside world that they are doing something for the environment, for example by reducing car commuter traffic, promoting health care for employees through more exercise and, if necessary, benefiting economically from fewer parking spaces and company cars.

There are now more than 80 certified bike-friendly employers in Germany.
