The terrorist attack in Sierra Leone on November 8, 1998 was the most devastating terrorist attack in terms of loss of life in the history of Sierra Leone in West Africa .

The massacre of civilians was perpetrated as part of the civil war in Sierra Leone in the Bombali district , presumably by the Revolutionary United Front (RUF). At least 100 people are believed to have been killed in the gun attack on the village of Gbendembu .
