Cycling shoe

Road bike shoe on the left, MTB shoe on the right

Bike shoes are special shoes for cycling . The sole is stiff in order to distribute the force over the largest possible area of the foot. This is intended to reduce pressure points on the foot. CFRP soles are used for high-priced shoes .

Almost all cycling shoes have on the underside a mounting possibility for a cleat ( Engl. : Cleat ) for connection to a clipless pedal . In the case of racing bike shoes , the plates are screwed onto the underside of the (mostly smooth) sole, which makes walking with these shoes very difficult. Shoes for MTBs and leisure bikes have thick soles, the cleats are screwed on with countersunk screws. As a rule, the sole is not that stiff, so that the usual sections of mountain biking are easier to carry.
