Faint Object Camera

The Faint Object Camera (FOC) was a camera on board the Hubble Space Telescope . It was used to observe extremely faint objects in UV light between 115 and 650 nanometers wavelength. The Faint Object Camera was in operation from the start of the Hubble Space Telescope in April 1990. After 12 years of use in space during maintenance of the telescope in March 2002, it was replaced by another camera, the Advanced Camera for Surveys , and brought back to Earth.

The Faint Object Camera was developed and built by Dornier- System GmbH in Friedrichshafen on behalf of ESA ( European Space Agency ) . It is now on display in the Dornier Museum in Friedrichshafen.
