Fairfield House

Fairfield House is a villa in the Scottish town of Dalkeith in the Midlothian Council Area . In 1990 the building was included in the Scottish List of Monuments in Category B. The greenhouse belonging to the villa is classified as a monument of the highest category A.

Fairfield House is in the center of Dalkeith between Lothian Road and Croft Street . A quarry stone wall surrounds the villa, which dates from the early 19th century. Access is through a double-leaf gate on the east side. The east-facing front of the two-story building is three axes wide. A one-story extension that was added between 1835 and 1852 extends along the east and north sides. On the flat roof there is a balcony with a surrounding balustrade . The local two-winged main portal with a triangular pediment on corbels suspicion. The building closes with a slate-covered platform roof . Two smaller wings on the back of the building have hip roofs .

Glasshouse

The greenhouse is adjacent to the northern boundary wall of the property. It was added between 1835 and 1852. The elongated glass house is entered via entrances on the east and west sides. Inside, a six-axis arcade construction supports the roof. The heated building has fans for air conditioning.
