Faja

The Faja [ Faxa ] ( span. ) Is an element of the Spanish national costume . It consists of a wide red sash , preferably made of silk , but also, for example, wool , which is wrapped around the belly several times, usually twice, and is often provided with gold-studded tassels .

The faja was and is worn by both the people and the military, among officers as a distinguishing feature between general and marshal .
