The location of the Fak-Fak department

The Fak-Fak department (Dutch: Afdeling Fak-Fak ) was one of the departments ( afdelingen ) into which Dutch New Guinea was divided. The Fak-Fak department was located in the west of the Dutch colony south of the Vogelkop peninsula. The capital and seat of government was the eponymous town of Fakfak .

The Fak-Fak department was divided into three sub-departments ( onderafdelingen ):

• Fak-Fak (main town: Fakfak)
• Kaimana (main town: Kaimana )
• Mimika (main town: Kokonao )

The area extended further east than today's Fakfak administrative district .
