Shingling

A Schupflehen was in feudal particularly Upper Germany a fief , which was awarded only lifetimes and from whose possession the heirs after the death of the vassal (for "pushing" / "pushed" Upper German) speak "geschupft" were. It was thus to be equated with the terms: Fallgut, Falllehen, body due fief, feudum mobile.

In a wider sense, a property that is left for an indefinite period is often referred to as Schupflehen.
