Fandel (unit)

The Fandel , also Fardel , Fardell and Italian Fardello , was a piece of measure in the trade in cloth goods, in addition to pack, bale and hem. The measure did not apply to linen cloths.

  • 1 Fandel = 95 Banchet

The Banchet was calculated with 22 to 24 cubits (after Brabant cubit ) of the region.

Had in Ulm and Italy

  • 1 Fardel or Fardello = 45 barchet towels of 24 yards each

For comparison:

  • 1 pack = 10 pieces of 22 cloths of 32 cubits each
  • 1 bale = 12 sheets of 32 cubits each
  • 1 hem = 22 cloths of 32 cubits each
